Hurst Marina 2010 Aqua Palooza / Getaway Information

Date Details
Sat Jul 24 Meet above (south side of) Long Island Locks (45° 14.957' W 75° 42.131'N) after 12:00 noon, where we will anchor in a group and spend the afternoon enjoying water sports, dinner aboard, and the night in this nice tranquil bay.
Sun Jul 25 Travel to Hurst Marina for a late afternoon BBQ from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm in our Boaters' Shack, courtesy of Hurst Marina. This was very popular last year and was enjoyed by all. If you do not already have a slip at Hurst, make sure you check the "reserve a dock" box on the registration application. (This is a free event, sponsored by Hurst Marina)
Mon Jul 26 Travel to Merrickville, leaving at 11:00 am where we will spend the night moored above the lock. Docks here are first-come first served, so you can't reserve. Merrickville is a lovely village full of great shopping and things to see within a few blocks of the docks.
Tue Jul 27 Travel to Westport, leaving at 11:00 am. We will tie up at Westport municipal docks. Westport is a gift-style shopping destination of some renown, so come prepared to browse / shop. Westport does not reserve docks.
Wed Jul 28 Travel to JonesFalls, leaving at 11:00 am where we will tie up at Shangri-Law resort. We will have dinner at Shangri-Law and undoubtedly make use of their large campfire pit. You can reserve a dock, but power is limited to 15 amps. You will need the appropriate connectors.
Thu Jul 29 Travel to Kingston, leaving first thing in the morning in order to make the lift bridge at Kingston before it closes. We will stay in Confederation Basin for the night. Again, this is a very busy weekend in Kingston, so book your slip now.
Fri Jul 30 Travel to Gananoque, leaving after lunch. At Gananoque we would hope to meet up with several of our St Lawrence River boaters for an evening dock party. We strongly suggest that you make reservations with the dockmaster.
Sat Jul 31 We will spend the day/night on the US side of the River. (Please click here for information about bringing your boat and passengers into US waters. Pre-approvals can be a lengthy process, so start now!) We will start at Hart Island (Bolt Castle) from 11:00 to 1:00 to check in at US Customs.  We will then travel down the St. Lawrence River to Lake of the Isles (44° 20.768' N 75° 57.282' W) for an afternoon of fun on the water - bring your toys. We will then motor down river to Dark Island (44° 27' 03.97"N 75° 48' 41.14"W) for dinner and an evening in Singer Castle. Cost of overnight docking will be $2.00 US per foot per boat, payable to the Singer Castle people.  (A pre-registration fee of $50.00 per head for dinner is required - refundable if cancelled before July 9th)
Miscellaneous

All dock fees, lock passes, meals etc. will be at participants' expense unless otherwise noted. Participants need to pre-register. Participation is open to all boaters who wish to attend. You don't necessarily have to have a cruiser, nor do you have to do the entire event - you may choose to come for a single day, or a few days. The idea is to come out and have fun with other boaters.

We have to confirm the number of boats and participants to the caterer and Singer Castle folks about 10 days before the event, so we will cut off registrations about July 15th.

PS: This is a great opportunity for new boaters to meet experienced boaters, and learn about boating / cruising / travelling through the locks. If you are still nervous about docking / locking, by the end of the tour you will be a pro!
