Last Entry - October 8, 2010

Hi everybody, as we enter the long Thanksgiving weekend, I would like to say it's been an honnor to work for the Association.  It's been the funnest summer since we began boating 6 years ago.  The marina has great plans so it should be even better next summer!  See ya in the spring!  Unfortunately, I won't be checking the mail to this site in the future.

Calm Seas and Favourable winds my friend,

Winding down..... - September 30, 2010

Hey Everybody, I'll start by saying Thank You to everyone who participated and especially to Peter for sponsoring our Year End Dinner on the 18th.  Once again, the Swan didn't disappoint and it was great to socialize with other boaters.

The pool and hot tub are closed but the weather should cooperate to give us two more weekends of sunny weather before the locks close.  Get out there and enjoy the fall foliage.  It's a great time to go boating....just dress warmly!

The Clubhouse is open during the reduced gas shack hours but will be closed after the Thanksgiving weekend.  The freezer has been decommissioned for the season.

What a weekend!!! - August 30, 2010

Spectacular is the only way to describe last weekend.  The pool area was the busiest it's been in years (excluding our parties).  There was lots of activity on the water too.  Unfortunately, there is still a lot of educating to be done.  While out on Saturday, we saw lots of excellent examples of what not to do while on the water and I use them to educate our kids on boater etiquette:

- Watersports with no spotter in the tow boat,

- Total disregard for Speed and No-Wake zones,

- Unsafe overtaking,

- Lack of common courtesy to other boaters especially around achorages and I could continue....

I hope my Hurst Friends continue to be the great boaters you are.  I know it's frustrating to watch the bad examples every weekend!  Thanks for reading my rant and Have a great week!

Rainy weekend and Year End Party - August 23, 2010

Well, last weekend was pretty wet but there was still lots going on at the Marina.  It was great to see the kids slashing around....oblivious to the dreary weather...and having fun.  An impromptu movie night happened in the clubhouse Saturday night with 7 kids piled onto one couch to watch "Bolt".    A few of us trotted up the hill to enjoy some smooth Jazz at the Swan which was packed.  More relaxing and socializing on Sunday made it hard to leave!   It is great to see the clubhouse and pool getting a lot of use this summer.

We will be announcing our Year End Party plans soon and hope to see you there.

Aquapalooza starts - July 26, 2010

Wow!!!! That's the only way to describe the opening weekend to Aquapalooza 2010.  What a great time on the hook Saturday.  The Sunday pool party/BBQ was also a great hit.  If you have some good photos, please email them to me.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

All the members of the Boaters Association would like to thank the Hurst Marina staff for their hard work.  The food, entertainment and atmosphere was amazing.  Have a great week on the water and we hope all goes smoothly.

The Association starts blogging! - July 26, 2010

In an effort to keep communicating with the boaters, we decided to start a blog instead of updating the home page message board.  Hopefully this will make it easier to let you know what's happening at the marina.  Eventually, I'll figure out how to let you respond to the blog entries.

Bye for now....Mike
